Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton believes traffic calming measures are needed outside Cloyne National School.

“The road from Cloyne out towards Castlemary, the R631, is a very busy road. Despite, a large increase in numbers attending Cloyne National School there are no traffic calming measures in place.

“Parents and residents are understandably very concerned about the safety of children attending the school. They have asked me to make representations to Cork County Council to put in place a pedestrian crossing at the school and also to provide a traffic warden in the morning and evening when children are entering and leaving the school.

“Having visited the school myself, I too share the concerns of the residents. The safety of these schoolchildren is paramount. I have made contact with Cork County Council and county councillors requesting the necessary traffic calming measures are put in place as soon as possible. I hope that something can be done as quickly as possible to address the issue.
