Funding has been awarded to 15 local environmental projects says Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice David Stanton. A total of €20,342 has been awarded via the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund which supports local environmental initiatives by communities, individuals and not-for-profit groups.

“The Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Environmental Partnership Fund is administered by the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment and all funding provided to local projects will be matched by Cork County Council. The majority of the applicants also invest some of their own funding in the projects.

The Fund supports small scale non-profit environmental projects such as allotments, community gardens, compost schemes, rainwater harvesting schemes, educational and environmental initiatives. It shows how local initiatives can help deliver sustainable communities and how small changes can make lasting improvements to our environment.

“Eligible projects are those that will support, at a local level, national environmental policies on Waste, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Air, Water and Sustainable Development. The 15 successful projects in Cork East constituency cover an impressive range of policy areas:
