The Department of Education and Skills has announced that the online Calculated Grades Student Portal is now open for registration to students sitting the 2020 Leaving Certificate examinations, according to Fine Gael TD for Cork East and Minister of State at the Department of Justice & Equality, David Stanton.
All Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied students and those following the Leaving Certificate Established or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programmes are being asked to register online via the Calculated Grades Student Portal on the Department of Education and Skills website at www.gov.ie/leavingcertificate before 10pm on Thursday, 28 May.
Students will require their unique examination number, their PPS number and personal contact details such as email address and mobile phone number, to allow for registration. Students will also be requested to confirm the level of each exam subject and can either maintain the current level or change to a lower level.
Speaking after registration had opened, David Stanton said: “Sixth year students across the country would ordinarily be preparing to shortly sit the Leaving Cert examinations. However, due to the current health crisis and the implications of facilitating the exams during the summer months, the Department has established the Calculated Grades Student Portal system.
“I acknowledge that this is usually a stressful period for all students and their families, no more so than at the current time. However, given the brief time period for registration it is important that students complete their registration ahead of the deadline of 10 pm this Thursday and confirm their subject levels so that schools can begin to calculate the expected performance at the chosen subject level.
“Once the Department of Education has received all registration details, each individual student will be asked to confirm through the student portal if they wish to receive calculated grades for this year’s examinations. Further information on the portal, the calculated grades system, and student health and wellbeing resources is available on the Department’s website. The Department has also established a helpdesk which can be reached at 1800 111135 or 1800 111136 between 9am-5pm up until Thursday. Those seeking assistance outside of these hours can contact the designated email address of lcsupport2020@education.gov.ie”, concluded David Stanton.
