Funding of €290,000 for repairs of the collapsed wall at Moll Goggins’ Corner in Youghal has been welcomed by Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton. The funding forms part of Cork County Council’s Regional and Local Roads Allocations for 2013. “I am pleased that Cork County Council now have the necessary funding to carry out repairs on this stretch of road in Youghal. A section of wall at Moll Goggins Corner collapsed in spring last year and while temporary safety measures were put in place, a large tranche of funding was needed to allow long term repairs to ensure this does not reoccur. I would hope that with this allocation, remedial work will now get underway. “In addition to the allocation for Moll Goggins corner, I was also pleased to see that Cork County Council will have funding of €60,000 to replace Dooneen Bridge near Leamlara. I am aware from constituents that this road has been closed for some time but I am advised by Cork County Council that work is now underway to allow this road to be reopened in the coming month.
