Speaking after confirmation of the allocations, Minister Stanton said “I am very pleased to see that the Sports Capital Programme continues to be of enormous benefit to sports clubs and sporting groups in Cork East. The latest allocations, ranging from €2,000 up to €150,000, will provide funding for the purchase of technical equipment across a wide variety of local sporting endeavours and I have no doubt that each of the twenty approved groups are delighted with their successful application.
“The Sports Capital Programme is the main source of Government funding for the development of sports infrastructure through the purchase of new equipment or improvements to existing facilities. Clubs in the Cork East area have been very successful in securing Sports Capital funding in the past and I am certain that the latest allocations will only serve to further develop organisations by encouraging increased local engagement.
“This funding programme represents a significant investment in community sport and health by promoting active engagement in sport amongst both younger and older people and the benefits to the local Cork East community are very evident. I would like to congratulate all successful applicants and wish them continued sporting success this year” concluded Minister Stanton.
