Fine Gael TD for Cork East Constituency, David Stanton, has welcomed confirmation that initial payments have been made to East Cork businesses under the Irish Red Cross Emergency Flood Relief Scheme.
The Irish Red Cross Emergency Flood Relief Scheme provides a contribution to businesses affected by the recent flooding caused by Storm Babet towards the costs of replacing flooring, fixtures, fittings, and stock under two specific strands:
Scheme A: Emergency Business Flood Relief Scheme
A1) A single once-off contribution up to a maximum of €5,000.
A2) For overall damage exceeding a cost of €5,000, further payments up to a maximum value of €15,000 can be made following assessment by a Red Cross appointed assessor.
Scheme B: Enhanced Emergency Business Flood Relief Scheme
B1) A single once-off contribution up to a maximum of €10,000.
B2) For overall damage exceeding a cost of €10,000, further payments up to a maximum value of €100,000 can be made following assessment by a Red Cross appointed assessor. Applicants applying for both B1 and B2 payments will be subject to an onsite assessment and further detailed evidence of damage and will be required to refund any overpayment.

David Stanton said: “I am pleased to learn that initial payment under the Red Cross Emergency Flood Relief Scheme have been made with several more currently being processed. The scheme caters for small businesses of up to twenty employees who were operational at the time of the flooding, and I would encourage those eligible to apply to the Irish Red Cross before the application deadline of Friday, 1 December.
“Households in East Cork affected by the recent flooding should seek funding assistance under the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme which is administered by the local Community Welfare Service.
