The allocation of €250,000 by Irish Water to carry out the water main rehabilitation project in Killeagh has been welcomed by Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton.

“Irish Water has advised that this funding was made available to upgrade the mains in Killeagh and reduce leakage. These works will be carried out in conjunction with the proposed road works in the village and form part of the tender for the road works.

“I understand that Cork County Council has appointed a consultant for the road works and that the tendering process is underway. A preferred bidder should be in place in early 2016 and the contractor will be able to proceed with both the road improvements and the water main.

“From contact with the Roads Office I believe that the works will run between the 50k speed limits at each end of town and include streetscapes, footpaths, kerbing and some safety features outside the primary school. I understand that the local community in Killeagh are anxious that the road layout in the village be enhanced to improve safety for road users and pedestrians.
