David Stanton, Fine Gael TD for Cork East and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, has confirmed that the Small Scale Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme 2020 is now open. This scheme, operated by the Department of Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, aims to support not-for-profit festivals, cultural events and summer schools that are not already supported by Government funding by providing a grant of up to €5,000.

“I am very pleased that this year’s fund for small-scale not-for-profit arts, culture and film festivals and summer schools is now open. The scheme supports local festivals and summer schools which do not receive Government funding and do not meet the eligibility criteria for funding from Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council or similar bodies. Such funding will be of enormous benefit to successful small local cultural events which will help to stimulate Cork East’s tourism product” said David Stanton.

“Project applications to the fund must demonstrate an important contribution to the development and promotion of Ireland’s cultural tourism offering. I would encourage all local community groups to consider applying. However, projects funded by the Arts Council and Fáilte Ireland as well as capital projects, sports days, food festivals, tidy towns events, receptions and family fun days will all be deemed ineligible for the scheme. The closing date for receipt of applications to the fund is Friday, 24 April”, concluded David Stanton.

Further details on the scheme and the application form are available on the Department of Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht website:
