Minister Stanton confirmed the funding approval, saying “I am delighted to see that so many local sports organisations and clubs have, once again, been successful with their applications for the latest round of the Sports Capital Programme. The Sports Capital Programme, reinstated by Fine Gael in 2012, is the main source of Government aid for the development of sports infrastructure through facilities improvements or the purchase of new equipment and I am certain that those approved will benefit enormously from the funding.

“Today’s announcement brings the total funding to Cork East Constituency alone to €1.547 million this year which is testament to the great success of local sports clubs and community facilities.  The wide variety of projects funded means that the monies allocated benefit the whole community and assist in promoting health lifestyles, self-confidence and team building” concluded Minister Stanton.
