David Stanton, Fine Gael Cork East TD has received further assurances from the HSE that Cork University Hospital's PET scanner will soon be operational. The PET/CT Scanner, which is crucial for detection of cancer, has been lying idle in CUH since 2009.
During a special Dail debate this evening, David Stanton TD, secured the Government's commitment to provide funding for staff to operate the PET scanner in CUH. This scanner, worth €3.8 million and essential for cancer and other services, should be operational next year.
