Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister, David Stanton, has welcomed Irving Oil’s acquisition of Top Oil.
Minister Stanton said: “The acquisition of Top Oil will allow considerable business expansion for Irving Oil here.
“At the moment Irving Oil, a Canadian-family owned company, own and operate our only oil refinery in Whitegate, Co. Cork.
“The purchase of Top Oil, another family-owned business with a large commercial and consumer market, will present many opportunities for the future.
“I understand that a number of conditions must still be satisfied before the sale can be finalised but Irving Oil have confirmed that Top Oil branding will remain in place with the entire existing workforce to be retained.
“This is very welcome news for the employees, their families, customers and the communities where the hundreds of Top Oil businesses are located.”
