Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton sought a progress report on Youghal Wastewater Scheme in Dail Eireann from Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government.
“Minister Hogan confirmed that the Youghal Sewerage Scheme is included in his Department’s current Water Services Investment Programme and that it is progressing. The Sewerage Scheme has two contracts; one of which is a Wastewater Treatment Plant contract to design, build and operate the wastewater plant. The other contract is for the wastewater network.
“I understand from the Minister that his Department recently received a Report on Tenders from Cork County Council for the treatment plant and that this report is currently being assessed. Cork County Council has also applied for a Foreshore Licence for these works including the installation of an outfall from the wastewater treatment plant and the Minister assured me that this application is being prioritised by his Department as the decision on the Report on Tenders will depend on the outcome of this application.
“Finally, Minister Hogan advised that following his approval of €3.8 million funding to Cork County Council for the network contract and he believes that the Council will be awarding this contract shortly.
