Following contact from a number of local residents, David Stanton, Fine Gael TD for Cork East has made contact with the National Roads Authority (NRA) suggesting they review speed limits on the N25. Residents from the Rocky Road and Carrigshane areas have raised concern about road safety on the section of N25 from the Lakeview Roundabout to Carrigshane.
“The current speed limit from Lakeview Roundabout to Carrigshane is 100 km per hour and given the large amount of traffic entering and exiting the N25 in these areas, I agree with residents that the speed limits or traffic calming should be examined. As such, I have written in support of this to the NRA, and have been advised that the Government will shortly issue guidance on speed limits and changes will be examined by the NRA in this context.
“I would hope that a new reduced speed limit could be continued from the Lakeview Roundabout and extended just past Carrigshane as I believe that this would greatly reduce the risk of accidents on this very busy stretch of road.
