Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton has, today, called on the IDA and the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD to ensure that the former Amgen site near Carrigtwohill is marketed strongly across the globe.
“The site which in excess of 130 acres is perfectly situated on the dual carriageway between Carrigtwohill and Midleton. It has ample supplies of water and electricity and is bounded on one side by the dual carriageway and on the other by the railway. It is also very near the Port of Cork, Cork Airport, Cork Institute of Technology and University College Cork. The location, coupled with the fact that it is owned by the IDA, should make it a most attractive site for a large high-tech facility,” noted Deputy Stanton
He also pointed out that the global reputation of Ireland has improved dramatically in the last three years with an announcement every couple of days of more job creation and inward investment.
David Stanton concluded by saying that East Cork is a fantastic place to live with excellent amenities and locating a facility on this very attractive site would benefit the region and the country.
