Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton has welcomed the allocation of €19,000 for a flood study of Midleton Northern Relief Road. This funding is being made available to Cork County Council from the Office of Public Works (OPW) under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.
“I am pleased that monies have been made available to Cork County Council to carry out this study. The Council will now be able to carry out an analysis the impact of the Midleton Northern Relief Road on local flood risk.
“No full assessment of the local flood risk of the Midleton Northern Relief Road has been carried out to date. As construction of the road was ongoing between 2007 and 2009 it was not possible to include the relief road in the Lee Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management Study. With this funding allocation this work can now be undertaken”, concluded Deputy Stanton
