2023 funding represents a 7.7% increase on 2022 allocation
The Department of Transport has confirmed that total funding of €71,340,042 will be allocated to Cork County Council for local and regional road works in 2023, according to Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton.
Cork County Council’s total roads budget for the repair and maintenance of regional and local roads this year is comprised of the following allocations:

- Restoration Maintenance – €5,368,000
- Supplementary Restoration Maintenance – €4,217,500
- Discretionary Grant – €9,874,000
- Bridge Rehabilitation – €1,867,122

Speaking after the Department of Transport had confirmed this year’s funding allocations, David Stanton said: “Cork County Council has seen its funding for the repair of local and regional road surfaces against damage caused by weather and climate change, increase significantly for the coming year, with a welcome rise of over €5.5 million in the total allocation. Such an increase will allow for the greater upkeep of local road, bridge, and coastal wall infrastructure and the installation of further road and cycle lane safety signage where necessary while also allowing for the further progression of important long-term transport projects such as the Great Island Connectivity Scheme”.
