Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, David Stanton, has welcomed the 22.2% annual decrease in the Live Register figures for Cork East constituency.
Speaking upon publication of the latest figures by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Minister Stanton said “The figures released for February show the number of those on the Live Register has fallen by almost 1,300 people in the last year. This continued decrease has led to an overall drop of 61.5% in Cork East constituency and 55.1% nationwide since the Action Plan for Jobs to reduce unemployment and support job creation was launched in February 2012.
“It is very encouraging to see Live Register numbers continuing to fall. Over 154,000 jobs have been created nationally since the current Government was formed in 2016. In Cork East constituency, which includes Social Welfare Offices in Cobh, Fermoy, Mallow, Midleton and Youghal, has experienced a reduction in 7,248 people signing on in the past 7 years.
