Centre to receive funding of €160,000 per annum
The inclusion of Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre into the Tusla national network of Family Resource Centres has been welcomed by Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, David Stanton. Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre (FRC), which was established by Society of St Vincent de Paul, will now receive funding of €160,000 per annum to continue its operations.
“Today’s announcement is great news for Carrigtwohill FRC, which has now been in operation now for over 25 years and is growing from strength to strength. It is also testament to the superb work of its staff and volunteers, none of which could have been carried out without the continued financial and other supports from the Society of Vincent de Paul. The services offered by the Centre are essential to Carrigtwohill whose population has grown considerably recent years, with more growth projected into future”, said Minister Stanton.
“Carrigtwohill FRC already provides an impressive range of services for the community of Carrigtwohill. In addition to childcare and family supports including pre-school, breakfast clubs and after-school services, the Centre is also involved in the provision of counselling, mental health supports and literacy skills. It also works with local schools and links in with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and a range of state agencies and other bodies including Springboard, Pobal, HSE, Cork County Council, Cork County Childcare Committee and SECAD.
“I am delighted that Carrigtwohill FRC is now included in the Tusla national network of Family Resource Centres. This means that its funding will now be secured into the future. This will allow the Centre to continue to provide its current services and to adapt the changing needs of this vibrant and growing community.
