Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton was delighted to attend the official opening of Kilcredan National School’s new extension which took place on Monday, 1st December.
“It was with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation from Principal Margaret Beausang to attend the official opening and blessing of the new extension to Kilcredan NS. This is a project that I was very pleased to support through the many years of fundraising and lobbying by the Principal, teachers, parents and local community.
“Kilcredan NS was established in 1972 with the amalgamation of three schools in the area, one of which I used to attend in Ladysbridge. This extension had been needed for many years as, in reality, very little upgrading of the school accommodation and facilities had taken place since the school was opened over 40 years ago.
“The extension includes a new general purpose room, staff room and new classrooms. The whole school now looks fantastic and is very modern, bright and comfortable. It will really enhance working conditions for the staff and improve facilities and the general educational experience of the pupils.
“Kilcredan is an extremely successful and popular primary school with 15 full-time and one part-time teacher and four SNAs catering for 265 pupils. Other support staff include a full-time secretary, two part-time cleaners and a caretaker. I am confident that this new extension will ensure the continued success of Kilcredan NS for many years to come.
