The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland administers a grant scheme to help homeowners to install rooftop solar PV panels on their homes. The funding allocated to the scheme for 2021 was €8 million.
As of end Q3 2021, 2,328 homes had received support under the scheme, of which 989 achieved a BER B2 rating or above, with €5.3 million in supports provided. This has achieved 9.1MW of installed capacity and a carbon saving of 2,390 tonnes CO2.
€10 million is allocated for the scheme in 2022, an increase on the €8 million allocation for 2021. Grant supports for domestic solar PV in 2022 will align with the upcoming Clean Export Guarantee tariff and other supports to be offered under the planned Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS).
My Department is developing a final scheme design for the MSS, and it is expected that a proposal on the supports to be offered will be submitted to Government later this year.
