Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, David Stanton, has welcomed confirmation that a new round of CLÁR Programme funding will be made available for local first responder organisations. The funding is part of a €1.2 million allocation announced by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD.
Speaking on the allocation of funds Minister Stanton said: “The latest round of the CLÁR Programme sees €25,287 awarded to Mallow Search and Rescue toward vehicle costs. Mallow Search and Rescue is a voluntary organisation which was established 35 years ago and provides vital assistance and support for water-based missing person searches.
“This year’s CLÁR Programme funding builds on the funding of €1.2m provided by Government last year. The Programme has provided funding to over 1,000 projects in rural areas since 2016. It forms a significant part of Fine Gael’s Action Plan for Rural Development which was launched in January 2017 which includes other financial support mechanisms for rural communities such as the Rural Recreation programme and the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
“This latest CLÁR funding announcement follows the recent allocation of €90,050 in funding to develop road traffic safety measures outside two local schools in Cork East constituency.”
