Registration Deadline 10th February; Application Deadline 24th February

Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, David Stanton is urging all sports clubs, community organisations and local groups interested in applying for funding under the 2017 Sports Capital Programme to ensure that they are registered by the 10th February deadline as otherwise their applications will not be able to make an application.

“I would ask any clubs or organisation who wish to apply for funding to ensure that they have registered online at http://www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie before the deadline of 5pm, Friday, 10th February. A guide to registration is also available on the website”, said Minister Stanton.

“The Sports Capital Programme is worth a total of €30 million this year and is now open for applications. However, only clubs who have registered are eligible to submit applications before the application deadline of 5pm, Friday 24th February. The online system shuts down at 5pm and no late or partial applications will be accepted. I understand the application process has been simplified this year but I would ask any organisation which has any problems with their application to make contact with my office at 021 4632867 and I will assist.

“Since Fine Gael reinstated the Sports Capital Programme in 2012 there have been three previous funding rounds with East Cork clubs receiving €1.28 million. Sports Capital funding can be used by clubs for a wide range of purposes including the development of sports facilities and club houses and the purchase of equipment.

“The Sports Capital Programme represents excellent value for money and greatly assists in the development of our sports infrastructure. Investment in sports and physical activity is good for the health of our communities. Given the success of this area in securing funding in previous rounds of the Programme, I would hope that local organisations and clubs will all take the opportunity to apply this year.
